We’re delighted to be working with Paultons Park in Hampshire to bring a brand-new Viking-themed play space to life, bringing a rich, story-led environment to life for younger visitors.
Paultons Park is one of the UK’s leading family theme parks, set on the edge of the New Forest and home to a wide range of rides, attractions and immersive themed worlds. Best known as the home of Peppa Pig World, the park is designed with families at its heart, offering experiences for all ages.
When we began working with the Paultons team, it was clear we shared the same ambition: to create something meaningful, imaginative and genuinely engaging for children. The aim was for a space where younger children could play and explore while older siblings head off to the bigger rides. Somewhere that feels like a destination in its own right, not just a stopping point.
Our design team has drawn upon Viking mythology to shape the story behind the space, spending time researching tales and symbols that could be woven into the play. At the centre will sit ‘The World Tree’, where the Golden Apples are brought into the experience, tying into the wider narrative across this area of the park.
As with all TouchWood projects, the emphasis has been on creating layers of play. There will be plenty to discover, whether it’s climbing, balancing or simply letting the imagination take over. It has been designed to hold attention and encourage longer dwell time, giving families a chance to pause while children fully immerse themselves in play.
The location of the play area, close to food and drink, also helps it sit naturally within the wider park experience, somewhere families can spend time together, rather than rushing between rides.
Now under construction, this Viking world is starting to emerge and we’re delighted to be working with the team at Paultons to bring the concept to life.
We’re always happy to answer any questions you may have about how we work, or offer advice on how best to successfully deliver your project.
