Playgrounds and adventure parks
for leisure and tourism.

We create bespoke indoor and outdoor playgrounds for household names across the world.

We know how to weave your brand story into a play scape creating an experience with massive play value.

If you’re operating a commercial destination – whether it’s leisure, tourism, sports or any other kind – you’re likely looking for ways to attract more people, enhance the visitor experience and encourage people to stay longer and spend more on-site in your adventure park.

On top of that, you want them to recommend your destination to their friends, share it on social media, and keep coming back.

We’re experienced in creating bespoke, original, sustainable playgrounds that provide youngsters with rich, creative, engaging play. We can help you keep visitors coming back year after year.

We’re regularly featured in play value and safety awards. In 2019 and 2023, TouchWood playgrounds were finalists at the ROSPA Play Value Awards for work with Hobbledown Heath and William’s Den.

We’ll add amazement and wonder. Are you ready for an instagrammable playscape?

Frequently asked questions

Yes, at TouchWood Play, we specialise in creating bespoke playgrounds tailored to your unique vision and surroundings. Whether you want a design that complements a natural woodland setting, a coastal environment, or a themed leisure site, we work closely with you to integrate natural materials and creative elements that reflect the local landscape and story. Our team collaborates with you from initial concept through to installation, ensuring the playground not only fits seamlessly into its environment but also provides an engaging, imaginative play experience for all ages. Customisation options include selecting specific woods, shapes, colours, textures, and features to suit your site’s character and your visitors’ needs.

At TouchWood, we prioritise safety while also recognising the importance of allowing children to explore and challenge themselves. To ensure safety standards are met, we collaborate with independent play safety inspectors from the Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Play Safety department, who evaluate risk levels according to the European BS EN1177 and BS EN1176 guidelines. This assessment occurs during both the design and construction phases, with a final on-site inspection conducted at handover. Clients receive a detailed report outlining the risk assessment findings of the play safety inspection.

At TouchWood, we’re dedicated to ensuring your playground remains a safe and enjoyable environment for all. Upon completion of installation, we provide you with a detailed inspection and maintenance manual. This manual includes checklists based on our guidelines, enabling you to create your own inspection and maintenance plan. We also offer a comprehensive aftercare service designed to support you in maintaining the longevity and safety of your play area. If required, we can organise an ongoing annual play safety inspection and undertake any routine maintenance that is required.

The design and installation process for a TouchWood Play playground typically takes between 3 and 6 months. The exact timeline depends on how bespoke the equipment is and the scale of the project, as more customised and larger playgrounds naturally require additional design and manufacture time. That said, we understand that some projects need a quicker turnaround, and we’re happy to accommodate tighter schedules wherever possible without compromising on quality or safety. We understand that there can be disruption to your normal operating environment when our installation teams are on site, so we can tailor our programme to ensure installation aligns with an off-season closure or quiet time to best suit our clients. We also take steps to ensure minimal disruption and impact to the site. To minimise the time that our teams spend on site we do as much of the manufacture as possible in our woodyard and deliver the equipment ready to install.

Yes! When we take on a new project we will conduct a site visit to better understand the environment that you would like to transform into a new play space, and have discussions with you about any existing ideas you may have. We will take measurements and photos to help in the design of the initial concept. For larger visitor attractions or hotels, where needed we also offer comprehensive services where our team works closely with you to ensure the playground perfectly fits your site and vision. These services include: • Masterplan review and recommendations to optimise guest flow and age-appropriate play areas • Specialist review of architectural plans to enhance play and recreation layouts • Assessment and enhancement of existing facilities for creative improvements • Safety and structural checks to ensure compliance with BS EN1176 and BS EN1177 standards • Construction advice on bespoke features and complex structures Whether you’re just starting to plan or need detailed technical input, our consultancy supports you at every step to create a safe, engaging, and bespoke play environment.

We only use durable materials in our playgrounds and, before construction begins, materials are rigorously inspected to ensure they are of the highest quality. All of our equipment comes with a warranty to provide you with peace of mind regarding its quality and performance. The length of this varies depending on the material and type of timber used. We also supply you with a full support manual on how to care for your playground to ensure its longevity. Our first ever playground, built in 2002, is still standing strong!

Whether a playground requires planning permission depends on several factors including its size, location and the local planning authority’s regulations. In many cases, small-scale playground installations in public parks or existing recreational areas may be exempt from formal planning permission. However, larger or more complex projects, especially those involving significant landscaping, structures, or in sensitive areas or those of historical significance, often do require planning consent. At TouchWood Play, we work closely with clients and the planning departments of local authorities to determine the specific requirements for each project and assist in navigating the planning process to ensure full compliance. We can provide detailed designs and supporting documentation to facilitate a smooth planning application where needed, helping you avoid delays and meet all legal obligations.
